As the title says I'm upset with the system. What system I'm talking about? I'm currently in Singapore looking for a job. I was able to find an employer who believes in what I have to offer to the company. However, in Singapore the government's labor ministry have to approve all work permits with their stringent guidelines. Well... my work permit (S-Pass) application was rejected by Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
What keeps on bugging me is the fact that why is the Singapore Government so keen on controlling the private sector. For example, I applied for a job in a private company. went through sets of interviews and exams suited for the position I'm applying for. Granted I pass all these. Then the company will go to MOM and apply for the Pass. I believe that the private companies should have the final say as to who they want to hire since they already made the appropriate hiring procedures. And the fact is it is their resources at stake not the government's.
